Central OK Section of AIChE

Welcome to the Central Oklahoma Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.  The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is a nonprofit organization of 57,000 members in industry, academia and government providing leadership to the chemical engineering profession.  Founded in 1908,  AIChE provides forums to advance the theory and practice of the profession, upholds high professional standards and ethics, and supports excellence in education.

The Central Oklahoma Section was founded in 1950's and presently has nearly 200 members including educators at OSU and OU, entry-level engineers,   staff engineers, professional engineers and chief executive officers of major corporations like Conoco and Kerr-McGee. The Central Oklahoma Section covers most of Oklahoma except for the Bartlesville and Tulsa areas. Through regularly scheduled meetings, tours, community and government interaction, section members obtain cutting edge information, interact with college students and make local connections that   keep them knowledgeable and competitive in their industry. Meetings rotate between Norman, Oklahoma City, Stillwater and Ponca City and typically occur on the second Thursday evening of the month from September through May.  Local section activities include:

bulletHold monthly meeting on a variety of topics with guest speaker.   These topics include weather, engineering, politics and education.  Some meetings include plant tours that demonstrate chemical engineering applications.
bulletHold continuing education seminars, professional and technical training courses,   community outreach, and social events.
bulletMeet and affiliate with other professionals to exchange information, develop business relationships and learn about trends in the field and local companies.
bulletRepresent the chemical engineering profession to government and regulatory officials through events like Engineer's Day at the Capital.
bulletEducate the general public about the role of technology as guest speakers.
bulletProvide career development information to students and professionals.
bulletRecognize and encourage excellence by promoting members for national awards.
bulletKeep its members informed and encourage involvement through regular newsletters and the section web site.
bulletEducate and encourage college and K-12 students, through events like Engineering Fair and National Engineers Week.
